Pair of Inox Armchairs | Germany 1980s

For sale is a curated pair of cubic armchairs featuring a striking architectural design. According to the previous owner, these chairs were part of a high-quality interior in a Cologne loft. The design is defined by a continuous stainless steel shell encasing the frame on three sides. Reflections on the metal combined with the recessed base impart a surprising lightness to the piece despite the heavy material, standing in stylish contrast to the black upholstery.

​Although there are prominent references from France and Italy featuring a similar design language, the chair has not yet been attributed to a specific manufacturer. It may well be a high-quality small batch series or an architectural custom piece – presenting a rare opportunity to acquire these exceptional items.

​The chairs are in a well-maintained overall condition with an authentic, decades-old patina. The stainless steel frames show fine surface marks, but no distracting dents. Alongside the well-preserved upholstery, the material shows minor signs of wear, including a superficial scratch on the right armrest of one chair (see photo 16).
