DESCRIPTION

For sale is an exclusive pair of iconic „1853/1“ lamps (largest version) in satin-finish white glass. Designed by Max Ingrand in 1958 for Fontana Arte, this model represents a milestone of Italian lighting design. According to the previous owner, this matching pair dates back to the late 1970s or early 1980s. The defining feature is the dual-control system, allowing the shade and the glass base to be illuminated independently or simultaneously. With an impressive height of nearly 80 cm, they function beautifully either as monumental table lamps or as sculptural floor lamps.
The visible metal elements in a charming, warm white tone provide a visual warmth and genuine vintage character. Unlike a sterile white re-edition, this authentic patina perfectly complements existing interiors featuring lived-in design classics. Their authenticity is further emphasized by the original Fontana Arte manufacturer’s label present on both the bases and the original step switches.

CONDITION

The pieces come from a well-maintained home and are in good original condition. The satin-finish glass is excellently preserved with no cracks or chips. The metal elements show a light, age-appropriate patina.
