DESCRIPTION

Designed by Ilmari Tapiovaara in 1958 and produced by the Finnish manufacturer Asko. The stackable construction is made of molded plywood with a light birch veneer. While the Aslak Chair is produced again today, this set represents rare originals from Asko’s initial production, holding significant value for collectors due to their material authenticity. These chairs originally come from the meeting room of a music school, which underlines their unique character. The partial „Made in Finland“ marking confirms early production.

CONDITION

The chairs are in an authentic and structurally stable original condition. To honor the request for absolute authenticity, any deep cleaning was deliberately avoided, preserving the characterful patina with all its history and surface marks. Two of the six chairs also show age-related veneer losses on the backrest and the left armrest, which are documented in the final photograph of the stacked chairs.
